New institutional arrangements for the Australian Communications Authority and Australian Broadcasting Authority—Proposal discussion paper 2003 (Submissions closed)

The proposal to merge Australia's communications regulators is not intended to be accompanied by substantial changes to existing regulatory arrangements.

The paper has prepared in consultation with the ACA and ABA.

Submissions are sought by Monday 15 September 2003 and should be marked to:

Alternatively, submissions may be faxed to 02 6271 1717.

Any submitters who have difficulties meeting the submission timeframe of 15 September 2003 should contact the Department to request an extension.

Following consideration of submissions, the Australian Government will consider whether change to the current arrangement is desirable and what, if any, legislative amendments or transitional arrangements would be required.

The Department proposes to post all submissions on its website unless otherwise indicated by the submitter.
