CDMA mobile network closure

On 15 April 2008 the Minister announced that Telstra's CDMA mobile network could be closed. Telstra closed the CDMA network on 28 April 2008.

The Minister was satisfied that Telstra had addressed the problems identified in January 2008 and that the Next G network provides equivalent or better coverage and retail services compared to the CDMA network.

Telstra provided the Minister with a report and supplementary information about the steps it had taken to rectify the identified problems.

Consumers can receive assistance by contacting Telstras regular complaints line on 125 111.

Customers who do not believe they have had their network switchover issues resolved through Telstra's hotline can contact the Department on freecall 1800 883 488 or the Australian Communications and Media Authority on 1300 850 115

The TIO is an office of last resort that provides free and independent dispute resolution for complaints made by residential and small business consumers of telecommunications services.
