Minister, as a professional network engineer, I am *opposed* to the Governments proposed Internet filter for Australia. At the present time, Australia already has some of the slowest Internet access speeds in the developed world. Highly respected technical people have already indicated that the introduction of such a filter will *reduce* the speed that Australians will be able to access Internet services. This is a backward step that will produce no benefit, given the fact that it is quite easy for people to circumvent the filters proposed by the Government. Minister, please reconsider the move to force an Internet filter on the Australian people - there are far better ways to protect children from the "nasties" on the Internet.
