What we do
The Department's vision is that Australia will continue to develop world-class communications and information technology that will build on the creativity of our people and the opportunities provided by new technologies to enrich the economic and social wellbeing of all Australians.
Key activities of the Department include:
- ensuring the telecommunications, broadcasting and radio-communications sectors meet the needs of all Australians and are internationally competitive;
- creating a range of information and communications technology (ICT) industry opportunities for Australia;
- supporting a range of national ICT and telecommunications councils and advisory bodies; and
- promoting Australia through international and regional telecommunications agencies and organisations.
