Ensuring that all Australians have the capabilities, networks and tools to participate in the benefits of the information economy is a major priority. Supporting strategies focus on individuals, communities and sectors where additional effort is required to achieve wider uptake and effective use of technology. Specifically, this work relates to:

• Developing the networks and capabilities needed by people living in regional communities, Indigenous Australians, older Australians, people with disabilities and others facing economic or social barriers to participation in the information economy; and
• Strengthening collaboration and capabilities in nonprofit organisations and key sectors to facilitate their participation in the information economy.

e-strategy guide for nonprofit organisations

Community Connectivity identified through recent consultations that there was a need for a guide tailored to nonprofit organisations on improving their take-up of ICT and maximising their existing or planned computer related investments. We subsequently commissioned a web resource developed with input from the nonprofit sector on how to create a web site and make best use of internet technologies.

This resource, the e-strategy guide for nonprofit organisations has been customised to the particular needs and characteristics of nonprofit organisations. You can make use of the guide by browsing by section or can use the e-journey feature which is an ICT self assessment tool that highlights chapters that may be of the most relevance for your organisation.
