Donortec - discounted software and hardware
The Donortec online technology donation and discount portal represents a partnership between CISA’s CommunIT Project and TechSoup (a US-based non-profit technology capacity building organisation) that links technology donations with the Australian non-profit sector.
Donortec aims to assist charities and non-profit organisations with donated software and hardware at low or discounted fees in conjunction with donor partners (Microsoft and Cisco).
The Donortec program will assist non-profit organisations by:
- providing software for a very low administration fee;
- assisting non-profit organisations to make the most of their ICT purchases and infrastructure;
- freeing up stretched non-profit budgets for other technology priorities and other program areas; and
- providing resources and advice around technology planning, ICT tips & tricks and other technology assistance required by non-profit organisations.
Donortec charges an administrative fee for each donation request processed. The fee covers the cost of administering the donation program. Administrative fees will vary according to the program, but qualifying organisations will generally save between 90 to 96 per cent on typical retail prices.
To be eligible for the discounted software an organisation must
- have Income Tax Exempt ‘charitable’ status from the Australian Taxation Office; and
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN) from the Australian Taxation Office.
