Realising Our Broadband Future Forum 2009

On 4 November 2009, the Minister for Broadband Communication and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, announced a major forum to explore the maximum potential for using broadband technology in Australia.

The Realising Our Broadband Future forum was held in Sydney on December 10 and 11.

The forum brought together experts from business, community and government to explore improved service delivery and future directions in smart infrastructure, e-health, digital education, e-business and e-community.

Keynote speakers included the then Prime Minister, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP, NBN Co. Chief Executive Officer, Mike Quigley and Jeffery Cole, Director, Centre for the Digital Future at the University of Southern California.

The plenary sessions and live audio of the specialist streams at the forum were carried on webcasts. The general public contributed to the discussion on Twitter and, through a collaborative wiki, edited the map of the next steps.
