ABC SBS Review (Submissions closed)
On 12 May 2009, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, released a policy response - Strengthening our National Broadcasters - highlighting the funding and future directions for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). The paper represents the Government's response to the public consultation on the national broadcasters.
The public consultation began on 16 October 2008 when the Minister released a discussion paper ABC and SBS: Towards a Digital Future seeking comments from the public about the future of national broadcasting. The submission period for the ABC SBS Review closed on 12 December 2008.
Copies of the discussion paper and submissions are available on the Department's website.
The views expressed through submissions informed the Government's thinking in relation to the national broadcasters.
