As a parent of two young children, I would like to see a separate ABC children's channel established so that no matter what time of the day or night there is suitable programming for kids with no commercial advertising. I would like to see this on TV and via iView.
I see no great need for there to be a separation between the ABC and SBS provided that the programming available on SBS is maintained. It seems wasteful to me to have parallel websites and I assume other infrastructure. With the availability of digital TV there is plenty of bandwidth for both under the same banner.
The iView service is a great start with regards to TV on demand. I would like to see all ABC and SBS programming being made available this way.
I regularly download podcasts from Radio National and listen to them every day. This is an excellent service that should be maintained and expanded. I would like to see a similar service for TV shows.
I value the lack of commercial advertising on the ABC and would strongly resist any change to the ABC charter which would allow commercials.
