As a professional musician, I was flaberfastered when SBS TV started showing ads during programs. I find myself hardly watching SBS anymore as I can't bear to have programs totally ruined by commercials.
A recent example was the recent showing of '2001 A Space Odyssey'. I could not believe it when, after showing a pious graphic before the film stating that in accordance with Stanley Kubrick's wishes the film was showing in it's original form. Then during the course of the film we get ad breaks. I turned off in disgust!
The other frustrating thing is that most of these breaks are filled with promos for other SBS programs.
This is NOT what a publicly funded broadcaster should be doing.
Please revoke this absurd policy.
