I wish to make known to the Review Committee how much Bob and I value the ABC for its balanced presentation of issues that are important in our Australian communities.
The fact that ABC does no have advertising is also of paramount importance as the interruptions of commercials such as now occurs on SBS is damaging to continuity of programmes.
Once advertising is introduced it seems to make programmers lose sight of the reasonableness of when and where ads should be placed. The repitition and interruptions are insulting.
I plead for more adequate funding so that ABC can once more produce programmes that are both entertaining and informative, that foster local talent, and encourage expression of our own culture.
